Hellooooo?! Anyone Out There?
Been out of town due to a death in the family. But I have so much to post so I'll have to get it together soon before I forget everything.

There's a whole lotta family stuff going on right now. Won't bore (or depress) you with the details but between that and work which has been crazy busy the last couple of weeks, I've not had a whole lotta free time.
Haven't even done any knitting for about 2 weeks (egads!)
I did finish a hat and I'm wearing it just about every weekend.
Trying to get a good picture of yourself in a hat is difficult. This one is blurry, but at least my head is in the frame.
I forgot what yarn this is. I underestimated yardage and ran out and then couldn't find more so I topped it out with some Lamb's Pride I had. I think it looks nice in a your-target's-right-here kind of way.
Better shot of the colors and the "target". I just looked the yarn up on Ravelry - Berocco Foliage is the name. Looks like crayons in a box, doesn't it?
I started off with a pattern my friend Anna sent me from the LA Times style section that featured A Mano Yarn Center. I realized shortly after casting on that the hat was going to be not slouchy enough for me, so I made some modifications I can't remember now for the life of me. I supposed I should look into that since I will very soon need a summer version of this chapeau.
Things need to simmer down 'round here.
Crazy weekend that I won't bore you with all the details. Suffice it to say, I worked late on Friday and worked Saturday. I'm still tired. Good thing is that pedometer was click-clack-clicking with all the running around I did.
Today I helped Lori move into her new store that is about 50 feet from the old one. It's a nice little house with a front porch and backyard where we anticipate sipping a bit of wine and frogging a lot of knitting this summer. I should have taken pictures, but I was much too busy. You know, you think there can never be such a thing as too much yarn until you have to pack and move it. Luckily plenty of people turned up to help out.
I hope I'm making sense. I'm so tired that every word takes 2 or 3 tries to get it typed correctly. Probably a sign I should turn in for the night, no?
Another reason for the exhaustion is that my friend Johanna called me last night to see if I wanted some of her now-too-large clothes. I was on it like an Olsen twin on a Starbucks no foam half caf skinny soy latte, I tell ya. She told me 2.5 bags. Well, it's the big, garden size Hefty bags she was talking about. Plus two bags of shoes. All of it barely worn. My closet overfloweth. It's sooo much! I'm absolutely overwhelmed with the trying on and the hanging up.
I'm looking forward to a restful weekend at work....
I spent the day in court. Aside from calling my friend Cathy and telling her that I needed to pay $500 in cash by 5pm or I had to spend the night in the pokey (April Fools!) the day sucked. I am bone-dry poor. No yarn yumminess for me for....a decade? At least.
As I was sitting in the "waiting room" with the other delinquents, I had a fit of the snobbies. As my fellow law-breakers were discussing their dui arrests, first and second strikes and prison tattoos, I kept thinking to myself, "I don't belong here! I'm not one of you! I'm not a lawbreaker! I'm just forgetful and not that bright!" Luckily I was among the first called.
Well, maybe next year I won't be so stupid.
Thanks to Wendy and Nick for the reassurance! I've straightened up and will be flying right from now on!
I got a ticket in January. The policeman told me I would get a notice about a court appearance in about 4 weeks. Nothing came. I called the court. They said the ticket hadn't been turned in and the officer had a year to do so. I needed to check every couple of weeks to see if it had been turned in.
Nada.
Yesterday I received a warrant for my freakin' arrest!
Although the address was right on the ticket, the one printed on the warrant is incorrect and it bounced around a bit before getting to me. Arrgh! Anyway, I call the traffic court again, and there's no ticket yet. This time they say I should come to the court house to get a stamp that says I've been trying to check.
Now, on my last day off before the end of May, I'm waiting for my friend Cathy to come and chauffeur me around town to various establishments so I don't have to worry about being stopped on the road, handcuffed and taken downtown to the pokey. If you don't hear from me for a while, please send yarn c/o the county jail.
I'm scared....
I joined a fitness program at work and our first day got us pedometers. We're supposed to get 10K steps a day. Twice a week a woman with negative body fat comes in to torture us with medieval exercises like squats and lunges. This pedometer owns me. Tonight is the first night I haven't hit my goal steps - I'm exhausted! Add to this the guilt factor of being in competition with another team of co-workers for a prize. I don't know if I've lost any weight, but I do know I'm too weak to get the brownie to my mouth.
Work has been busy. Apparently everything hits the fan in Winter quarter. I'm just feeling like I'm starting to get a handle on things. There's a lot of plates in the air again and that always makes me uncomfortable.
Also got the new Sims 2 expansion pack - Free Time. I was all excited because now they have hobbies like sewing and sports and gaming - heard scoop that knitting was one of the activities. Alas, I don't believe it is so. Or at least I haven't discovered it in my 30 minutes of play.
Somewhere along the line I managed to finish a pair of socks.
Kew in Plymouth Happy Feet Yarn. Easy pattern and a fun little knit. There's a huge mistake on one of the legs, but I can't find it. I dropped about six stitches and swore I picked them up correctly, but a few rows later and the pattern looked .... odd. Oh well. Still like em.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the farmer's market. Check out the fresh produce I got there:
Why didn't anyone tell me I could get YARN at the Farmer's Market! I'd have been there years ago! I love this silk sari yarn. I bought some on eBay a couple of years ago and every time you touch it it falls apart. This stuff is hardier stock. It was on sale for 8 bucks. I think I got a deal.
I love the purple-y pinks in here. At the booth where I bought this they had a really cute bucket hat knit up with it. I think that's what this will be - my funky bucket hat. Or a slouchy beret. Or a ....
