My First RAOK! YAY!

Lisa sent me a gift certificate to Adagio Teas!  Yum!  How fabulous!  Thanks so much Lisa - Now I'm really compelled to read the site and figure out how all this RAOK thing works! :)  Now to choose from the Rooibos or the White Darjeeling....

But Does It Do Windows?

Whilst weeding out my spam I found one titled "Train Your Pen1s".  It can be trained?!!  Cuz seriously, I need some help around here and if it can do dishes, clean the toilet and vacuum....seriously, how do I get one? And while we're at it, I'd seriously like it to do some laundry - including the hand wash and the dry cleaning.  And can it do maintenance type work?  The faucet in my kitchen sink leaks a bit.

Maybe this is where we've gone wrong, ladies.  We just needed the one part (trained, of course) and not the whole dude.  Maybe separated from the dude the Pen1s is just a handy little helper.

What Does it Mean When You Dream About Yarn?

Had a dream the other night.  Dreamt I was knitting with this yellow/orange-y type yarn that was self-striping. Only, as I was knitting, it wasn't making those random stripes you usually see.  The pattern was all arrows. 

Hmmm.

Crochet Day

Week actually.  I'm working on a crochet scarf in Lions Brand Homespun.  It's fairly wide - it's double crochet, 28 stitches across on a K hook.  Looks thick and cuddly, no? 

It's for a lady who bought one of my scarves at the craft fair in December.  She wants another in blue.  My goal was to complete this by the 27th, but it didn't happen.  Hopefully it will be done tomorrow night.

Word to the Un-Wise

Dear Young Girls,

Gee, aren't those little pleated mini skirts cute?  Omigosh!  They are!  They are so freakin' cute!  And it sooooo rocks when you wear them with Uggs and a hoodie or a belly T.  Yeah, it's hot.  But can ya do an old broad like me a favor?  Check in the mirror first to see if you have butt acne.  I'm just sayin'.

Pretty in Purple

New yarn!  It's Tahki Yarns Shannon.  I'm thinking it would like to grow up to be a felted wristlet.  I cast on this morning just for kicks it looks like it's going to be fun.

But first I have to finish 2 scarves.  One knit, one crochet. I don't know why it's taking me so long to finish them!  Hopefully this weekend I'll get them both done.

Overheard in San Diego

Have you seen this site:  Overheard in New York ?  I keep it on my favorites at work because you can just pop in for a short read and usually get a giggle.

Well, I was walking to my car today and I overheard this:

Girl #1: Well I would just never wear dirty underwear.
Girl #2: Yeah, that's gross.
Girl #1: I mean, that's just disgusting.  I would just, you know, not wear any.
Girl #3: But then you get your pants dirty.
Girl #1: Yeah, but it's not like underwear dirty.
Girl #4 was silent. Probably because she was wearing dirty underwear right at that very moment.

Success!!  A hat!

That's 242 yards of Zarella Baby by Tahki Stacy Charles.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  It's a luscious pink with fucshia and purple that make random little patterns.  It's 52% wool and 48% acrylic. Cost=$6.75 x2 and 1 ball made the hat.

Hmm. Guess those pictures could have been a little clearer, eh? But you get the point.  There was a hat in a book and with my own clever little hands I made it in real life.  Yay me!

I think my stitches were a little loose, but it's better than the last hat!  I'm mailing it off tomorrow to my Secret Craftster.  I love Craftster! 

Tags, Tags, Tags

I made these tags a couple of months ago.  I have a box of scrap paper that was starting to explode so I just started playing and came up with these cute little tags.  I used punches on some, but most are just random scraps of paper glued together.  I ended up making about 150.  But then I didn't know what to use them for so I ended up putting them away in a drawer.

When I did my craft show in December I wrapped people's purchases in plain brown lunch bags and punched a ribbon through the folded top and tied on one of my biz cards.  If it was a gift I gave them a gift card that they could use in place of the biz card.

At my next craft show I used them for my earrings.  I just punched two little holes in them with a slot punch and hung the earrings from them.  Looked cool and the bits were colorful enough to make people stop and look at them. 

They're about 2" x 1.5".  I cut the bases out first then I just laid them on the table and pulled out some random scraps of decorative papers and started layering.  It was fun.  I couldn't use any full sheets of paper, just scraps.  Of course, that was probably no limitation.  I mean, I made over 100 and I have enough to make probably 1000 more!

I've also used them as covers for tiny accordion books.  I'm trying to think of more uses.  Any ideas?
