It's Me!

My computer is in the hospital getting a complete physical so I'm writing this from the public library computer that is kind enough to warn me that I have four minutes left.

Personally, I'm feeling a little better and, after a visit to the doctor this morning, I have made some big decisions about my life and such. I look forward to getting back in the saddle again. I'll fill in the details when it is settled and can do so without repercussion.

Yikes! Two minutes! Um. Am still working on the sleeves for Sonnet. It was a good idea to do both sleeves at once. I don't think I could stand to do this more than once --- I HATE repeating myself.

Gotta run or I'll completely lose this post....

Poetry in Motion

I finally finished the body of Sonnet!  I really like the way it looks.  I tried to capture a shot of me wearing it, but that didn't turn out too good:

In retrospect I should not have gotten lazy about my idea to do a mohair center panel.  The mohair stripes look kinda dorky.  But I still like it so I guess dorky is my style.

I'm going to attempt to do both sleeves at once this weekend.  Hope they turn out!  Then I can start on Cleo from SpunMag. (Thanks Jillian, for the heads up!)

Blog Interrupted

Hello Bloggity-blog blogness! How I've missed you so!  Whatever evil thing that has been munching away at my computer guts has kept us separated far too long!  Even now I can only operate in Safe Mode (arrgh!) Tomorrow you will go to computer fix-it land and you will be restored to greatness once again.  I'm just thankful you let me do my taxes on Monday, even though halfway through the mouse decided to quit on me. 

The good news is that I've had a lot of time to work on Sonnet and I'm very nearly done! Yay!  I have to finish the front and then the sleeves.  It should be completed just in time to pack it away for fall.  I have such excellent timing.

My next project is to complete Ella.  I talked to Lori last week and my yarn has come in.  You wanna know the definition of scary?  When you call the yarn store, the phone rings once and the owner picks it up and says, "Hi Hilari! We were just talking about you!"  So not only does she know my phone number, but at the moment I called I was being discussed!  I'd say I'd been doing too much shopping if I actually believed that could possibly be done.

I told you that my mom bought me a microwave (against my will), right?  Well, I've burnt my first bag of microwave popcorn two days ago and the smell is still in the house.  When I made popcorn on the stove I NEVER burnt it and it didn't stink up the joint. 

I haven't forgotten about my promise to post the hat pattern.  I just haven't been able to type it up yet.  Maybe after my hard drive gets off the cement blocks in the front yard of my desk I can attend to that.  Until then I'm going to have to make it through another coupla days without internet access.  Pray for me....

Cake Lust

It's midnight and I've a hankering for cake.  Should I just go to bed? Or should I bake cake?  I opened my oven today and the handle just came clean off.  I'm wondering if I should call my landlord and have her send a guy to professionally fix it, or if I should just E6000 it back together.  The former decision would greatly hinder cake in my near future.

Anyhoo, about the hat.  Out of my fave yarn of the moment - blue sky cotton.  I picked it up last week at The Grove cuz everyone was tired of hearing me sigh over the endless garter stitch that is Sonnet.

The pattern motif is out of Vogue Knitting.  Now that my computer is up and running again (yes! Another breakdown!) I can get the instructions up later this week.

Just a quick post to check out Marnie's Deciduous - it is so freakin beautiful!  It may be the inspiration I need to lose weight just so I can wear it!

New Goodies for Me!

I haven't been up to much lately.  Just trying to stay healthy, wealthy and wise, I guess.  I am trying to commit to two rows on Sonnet each day.  This is where I am so far:

That's about half way through the back.  I haven't done my two rows today, but I did 3 yesterday so maybe that counts for something.  At this rate, I should be done sometime in the year 2020.  It's a lot of garter stitch.  I wish I'd thrown in another stitch pattern to make it more interesting.  I really like the mohair panel.  I'm debating adding a panel the front or just doing the two in the back as I planned.  Guess I'll know when I get there.

My mom and uncle visited me this weekend - making sure I'm okay and not eating out of the trashcan or anything like that - I totally forgot that Mom bought me this

I'm going to have to get it together so I can attempt to figure out how it works. 

This time Mom bought me a microwave.  I haven't had one for nearly ten years and I guess it drives her crazy, even though I always said if I missed one I would buy one.  Frankly, I haven't missed one.  Still, the gesture is appreciated and my butter will melt a lot faster now.

The beautiful tulips are from my ladies at church.  They are a much more vibrant red than shows in the photo.  I love tulips!
