A head full of braids don't often fit under the average store-bought hat. I've been wanting one of those slouchy berets but when I tried one on in the store it was kind of a regular cap. And, well, if you don't know, I'm not adverse to making my own hat. I had to knit about four before I got one that I really liked.
Here it's like a regular cap. keeps the hair in place. Keeps the ears warm. Makes me feel all standoffish and kind of hipster cool.
Here's a side view, kinda slouchy. I can also really push it back and it still stays on m'head. Makes me look Thoughtful, like I write poetry, drink soy lattes and grow my own mushrooms, huh? Totally the look I was going for.
I used two different bits of yarn leftovers. I like how the colors blend.
And here's the money shot. All the hair? Where'd it go? It's tucked in the little slouchy pouchy, baby!
It's the coolest thing I've ever knit! Be awed, gentle readers, be awed. Sorry for the crap photos, though.
Ooh, braids! I love 'em! I joined your challenge group on flickr but I think I'll pass on the first challenge, I haven't enough hair for barrettes/pins and I've already got little gifties planned for the hairy ones on my list. But I reserve the right to change my mind should I spot some blanks at the shop...
