I don't know if it's because I've been watching Clean House marathons and How Clean is Your House? or what, but I've seriously got the clean up bug. Tossing stuff left and right. In fact, rather than luxuriate in the perfect weather this past long weekend, I reorganized the kitchen! Tossed a bunch of stuff and made some room in the cabinets.
I've nearly done with the bathroom (countertops) and the bedroom (2 boxes, 2 desk drawers) so that leaves just the living room. Unfortunately, that is the biggest mess. All the extraneous stuff from the bedroom that wasn't to be pitched landed in the living room. Ugh! figure if I work on it for an hour a day, it'll get done eventually. Then I can tackle the balcony.
I don't know about you, but a crafty lifestyle tends to lead to all sort of goo lying about. 19 different pairs of scissors, 1,000 reams of paper, a closet full of fabric, drawers full of paint, polymer clay, zippers, stickers and beads, book board behind the couch, X-acto knives in every mug, cup and decorative mini bucket. Sigh. It's enough to make you crazy.
My original storage solution was drawers and containers. Since I tend to hit a few garage sales in the course of a year, I would buy any type of container. I'd find some little metal bucket thingy and then I would get home and discover that it wouldn't hold all my pens or whatever I originally thought it could hold. The container was either too big or too small. So I took those containers that weren't being used and either found something appropriate to store in them, or OUT they went. I've also taken to buying containers that close and have handles. This way, not only can I store stuff in them, but I can close it up and take it to another area in the house to work on it and when I'm done, I can just stuff everything back in and shove it back on the shelf.
I guess organization is not so much following a guideline or a book, but finding out what works for you. What have you found that works?
