I Coulda Been a Contender

The closing ceremonies of the Olympics were spent Ella lying on the floor mocking me.  No medal for me - I ran out of yarn and it'll be 4-6 weeks before my order comes in.  This makes me a saaaaad panda.

It's especially discouraging to know that I would have finished if I'd 1-not ignored the fact that I didn't have enough yardage, 2-remembered to adjust the pattern so I wouldn't run out of yarn and 3-had the foresight to buy another skein when I knew months ago that I wanted to make this shawl with this yarn.  Irony of it all is that the colorway is called "Bittersweet".

So instead of doing victory laps and brushing up on my humble award ceremony stance, I watched about five hours of Celebrity Fit Club (gotta love that Kelly LeBrock!) When I do get Ella finished, I can't wait to block it - it's going to be fun seeing all the places where I got off the pattern!

So, it'll be another coupla years before I can enter another Knitting Olympics - let's hope I'm better prepared.  Until then - need I remind you .... I JUST HAD SURGERY!

Working steadily on Ella.  Much progress made.  I rock.

Need to complete the over-the-shoulder section.

There's a variation of the pattern that would allow for a more traditional shaped shawl, and I meant to do that because I don't have enough yarn for the real version.  Only I got a little excited about finishing and missed that part of the instructions and realized it when it was too late to turn back.

I so don't rock.

But maybe this is really 200 yards... it could happen.  In any case, I've ordered more.  And if I don't finish in time for the olympics...DANG! DID YOU FORGET I JUST HAD FREAKIN' SURGERY, PEOPLE?!!! But I'm no Michelle Kwan - I sucked it up and triple axel'd all up n thru, okay!

My gosh - surgery is one mighty fine excuse.  How long do you think I get to use it?

Evidence of my neglect of household chores in deference to Ella.  Um, actually, that mess by the front door is really evidence that I really had to go to the bathroom.  It's gone now.  Or at least the bag with the cookies were is gone.  Well, actually...just the cookies are gone...
